So AFest went off really well, and I spent most of my time running around with in cosplay and trying to figure out how to work my camera : D There's a full con report over here on LJ: 17965.livejournal.com/61038.ht…

Currently, I'm a little swamped with school and mostly draping and drawing II x_x but I'm working slowly through the Varia jackets and making a Slytherin robe for my friend Amy to wear to the Harry Potter midnight release XD I was seriously considered making myself a Gryffindor one and then I remembered that I'm poor and in college o_o so maybe not.

Stuff I'm working on for myself is Xanxus from Katekyou Hitman Reborn and I'm going through a long slow process of putting together Raiden's skull suit from Metal Gear Solid 2 XD Which I am excessively excited for. So I've ordered fiftybillion samples from Spandex House (btw, if you need anything that's any kind of stretchy - lycra, stretch vinyl, whatever - if you can't find it locally, check Spandex House online. They've got everything ever and will mail you samples for free ). The current project for that is making this pattern that is for at least 75% stretch fabric to something much less than that : D So, mock up time soon! Hurrah! XD

Okay, so I haven't posted a journal in a while, so here's an update on things I'm currently working on, things I've got planned, and some things I'd like to work on in the future : D

Currently I'm working on getting everything all in the right place and patterned correctly with the mock up for Leia's Endor Trooper vest so I can cut that mock up apart and use it as the patterns for the final thing And that's a commission for a lady who lives her in LJ ^_^

As soon as I've got that all finished and taken care of, I'll be trying to finish up my Toph (from Avatar) costume so I can get a photoshoot in with Amanda before I head off to Lubbock, and a couple weeks later, wear it at AFest, at the booth I'll be selling some hats and things to try to get some extra con/cosplay munnies

As far as the other commissions go, I'll be making the following:
Superbi Squalo - Katekyou Hitman Reborn [for Leaf]
Leon Kennedy - Resident Evil 4 [For Leaf (I am requiring that she play the entire game through before I hand over this costume to her XD)]
Aang - Avatar [for my awesome bald friend Dee XD]

The Akito costume is actually already done - its a costume I wore a few years ago and I've just been wanting to wear it again sometime, so all I'll be doing is getting a wig for it ^_^

I'm also slowly slowly slowly putting together patterns for a Steampunk sky pirate design for myself XD As well as one for the boyfriend D: And that'll just get done in between all the other things - when I get sick of doing something and want to have some fun doing something else XD Which happens pretty often for me @_@ I'm so A.D.D.

So, the boy-child and I have decided that we're going to be making some Soul Calibur costumes over the summer =O Specifically Xianghua for me and Kilik for him. So, since I don't have much armor making experience I wanted to ask if you guys had any idea on how to make Kilik's eagle head knee pads O_O They are here for reference: i170.photobucket.com/albums/u2…

I do have a friend who just finished making the armor set for Aqua in Kingdom Hearts: Birth By Sleep, so I'm pretty  sure he can give me some good idea, but just wanted to check if you guys had any thoughts =O Lemme knooooow~ <3

So, cosplayers, I have a question on how intimate your acquittance with wigs is and how much it bleeds into your everyday life.

Leaf and I have gotten into the habit of speaking in numbers about people's hair. Like "That girl's hair is a really pretty 24. Do you think it's real?"

"No, that's definitely a 24B. And no, it's not real."

Or "Hey, I think I'm going to go blond for a while."

"How blond are we talking? Like, 16 blonde? Or, like, Too-Loud-For-My-Face 613 blonde?"

"Too-Loud-For-My-Face 613."

"Enjoy that."

And likewise with matching hairstyles with wig styles.


Does anyone else do this or is it just us that are weird? XD
